Well not the Lizardmen one anyway, but if a couple of Arabians can conspire to fly airplanes into buildings then it is absolutely plausible for the rich and powerful to conspire to maintain the position of power. Look at the filtration that the media goes through, almost completely ignoring the American funded genocide in East Timor but covering Cambodia in details.
The economic hitmen that have ruined Southern American are also a conspiracy, by definition. The coups planned by the CIA in Southern America to put dictators that benefit American policies is a conspiracy. Fucking Dick Fucking Hellspawn Cheney's alliance with Halliburton and their fat government contracts is a goddamn conspiracy, so why are people so oblivious to the obvious evil perpetrated by the ruling minority? I understand that it is comfortable to ignore this all, but it's true. We have never really left the feudal ages, maybe for a decade or two, but we are still enslaved to our corporate masters and their agenda of greed.

It pretty much boils down to

You can fool some people for all time.
You can fool all people for some time.
You can't fool all people all the time BUT

You CAN fool most people most of the time, hence the survival of bullshit religion for so long.

I mean really, especially because of the recent federal reserve's admittance to having caused the great depression to (obviously) benefit their shareholders, how can people still think that it is impossible for the rich and powerful to work together to keep the common man down? It happens, it has always happened and will probably continue to happen if we don't kick the shit out of the powers that be.

Watch the war on democracy from John Pilger. Watch Zeitgeist, shit, I know it's not 100% true but at least it gives some perspective and rationalizes possible conspiracies.

Conspiracies do exist and they are responsible for much of the world's suffering, it's not quite as complicated and intricate as Alex Jones makes it to be, but shit, even he makes a good point, as extreme as he is, he has done the research and correctly concluded that the rich and powerful are exploiting us. It really isn't that far fetched.

 

Usually when people accuse you of being a conspiracy-monger, it's because you prefer your conspiracy over theirs.

9/11 was a conspiracy any way you slice it. The question is, whose conspiracy was it? The "official" version was as unlikely as any.

I do, I can't help it. I'm an idealist and this is my form of protest. It's not much, but come on, I'm unemployed, I don't have a lot of options except for trying to rally people. I'm not as crass as other conspiracy theorists, but I just wanted to point out that flat out denying conspiracies is denying the truth. They exist and we do suffer because of it.

Wow!! That's a bit harsh!! But seriously, there's a whole slew of conspiracy theories (and conspiracies). Of course there's a few people who are in control of most of the wealth and all of the 'real' power!! Life's like that!! If you got rid of them, then the power/wealth only passes down a level - one level - which you can take out, and we're down to the next level. And so on and so forth. In the meantime, civilisation as we know it goes to hell in a handbasket - there is no rule of law. We get gangs of thugs roaming the streets, declaring marshal law on our towns and cities - nobody is safe from the gangs who now wield power, even though we have some form of 'control' a couple more levels further up.

You want change? Violence will not change anything for the better - we need instead to enlighten and educate the masses to think more for themselves - and accepting less crap which we are doing now. Start demanding our politicians actually work for the people and not for to feather their own nests!!

this seems strangely realistic, it is not a dismissible notion that the whole pattern of conspiracy theories were initiated in the distant past for the sole purpose of spreading disinformation, confusion and fear, and so cause a kind of paralysis, a general inhibition to act or think in a coherent, objective and critical way

mind you this would not necesitate that someone is orchestrating the whole thing, it would be enough to just pass on disinformation and the internet and various paranoid types take it up a run away with it, spreading and reproducing all kinds of bullshit, till it becomes common knowledge and part of popular culture until you cant really talk seriously to a professed anarchist or leftist, or just an average person, without online para-documentaries and vaccination fears creeping into the conversations

this is bad, reactionary and dangerous, it is a way to obscure true objectives, the real problematic, it creates a sence of reality that is doubly false, if we agree with baudliard that most of the reality we construct from procesed, mediated information is a fabrication, then this is another lair of fabrication but one that actually makes any kind of intelectual/mental liberation from the first lair of bullshit even harder, also it is a way to mistify or completely miss the real problems, in so far as they can be objectively identified, and insists on making the whole seem owerwhelming, intimidating beyond necessity

but mostly it is bad and dangerous because it promotes irrational fear

actually if we look at some historical examples we can see a similar pattern occurring in the early 20th century, or in the nineties in ex-yugoslavia, where all kinds of conspiracy bullshit was propagated troughout the general public, to promote fear and hatred, wich was then swiftly multiplied and transformed into forms of mobilisation that had effect in the later conflicts, but which definitly diverted atention from the real political problems

lastly conspiracy theories are negative simply because all and any form of disinformation, mistification and incomplete paranoid understanding are negative, unproductive, destructive even

i mean it is one thing to point to obvious problems, obvious lies, to promote a conscious and criticall view of things, to make people think at least, but its something completely diferent to construct whole paranoid worlds and sell them as truth

in the end it is obvious a conspiracy is a basic element of all politics, to point out in outrage or fear that the gowermet is lying or cowring up, simply means one does not understand the basics of political sistems

in most european countries, especially the ones in transition, if someone was to point out in fear and revolt there are conspiracies or that the politicians are liars, people would laugh at him, not because noone would believe, but because this is common knowlege, this is such old news that people dont even think about it much

this is also bad, wery bad, but mistifications, paranoid fantasies and fear only make it worse

the problem is realistic critical discourse and honest objective analisis just dont have the same penetrative power in modern culture as does bullshit in any form
