  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

Lucky me, I woke up this morning on my day off and found out my credit card information has gotten in the hands of another person. I noticed that the location I bought gas from also had a market transaction for food... Interesting since I haven't bought food at this market in awhile (2-3 weeks). So I called the C/C company and they informed me it was a manual transaction where my numbers were typed in... Oh really well that wasn't me. The C/C company did a great job saying they will credit the $75 and close out my old C/C number and mail me a new one.

However my issue is with the super market! You cannot buy items online so how the hell did a cashier allow for someone to just type in a c/c and not show prof of ID... Something fishy here is happening to this multi million dollar establishment. I am debating if I go over there and talk to a GM because for all I know someone could be doing this daily that works there!

I work with c/c companies at my job and luckily if a c/c is manually put it is automatic grounds for fraud or reversal if the customer says it wasn't them because there is no prof that owner did the transaction.

Anyone else have similar stories? How do you protect yourself from assholes trying to get your C/C information.

If it was me I would be talking to the manager like you said you might and also head office - go right to the top. If you don't go at least phone them or write a letter.

I am on my way there shortly! Total BS they manually typed the card in and a cashier took it. Unless it's an inside job and the cashier is the one stealing people's information

Yes go and speak to the store manager. I would still contact head office as there will be a better record of it if you contact them as well cause then they also contact the store manager so you really get their attention and hopefully action. The store manger has to answer to head office.

You are extremely fortunate. I was the victim of credit card fraud. I usually would check it a couple times a week. They charged almost a thousand dollars before I caught it. Now I monitor it daily and urge everyone to do the same. I wasn't charged the money, but you never know. I think most banks are able to charge you 50 dollars of it. When they investigated I assume they could tell I did not make the charges.

I'd also involve the police, let them start an investigation on the store maybe there is more to it than this just one time.

If it were me it'd be because I'm eating food I don't know about, which is why I'm so fat.

My advice is use Excel; not Open Office. Libre Office had my records all fooled up, and I thought there were thieves everywhere. :shifty:

No. I actually am fat... and I have a very erratic credit card debt.
And Libre Office put my transactions in the wrong rows with different dates! I was freaking out, till I bought Microsoft Office and used the sort thing.

I don't even know what balancing a checkbook is. I know I'm supposed to use the paper in the back, but that's about it.

It's been a good ten years, but whenever I used a card in a US store, they took the card, processed it and handed it back, then after the processing was complete they asked me to sign the chit - now that my card was back in my wallet and they couldn't check the signature!

Luckily for me, the only time I've been victimised by CC fraud, the fraudster was somewhere in Alabama and I was in England at the time. Pretty easy to provide conclusive proof that it wasn't me. :D

I spent a few years living in France and Germany as a youngster and using credit was not a common thing so I learned not to even have cards, I use cash or if needed checks. Plus why should I pay a fee to pay payments on things when the card company still charges interest?

shit like THIS happens; and they want US to TRUST the Banks, CC companies, and Government by trying to transition to a cashless society.

how about where some gas stations use a "bug" to "run up" the charge to you're card when you pay at the pump? the price charged keeps acrueing for a few seconds AFTER you've STOPED pumping Gas. OR how about the "small percentage" of Pumps that are infested with "skimmers"?

In you're case, did that have video of that cashier? bet it was them that "manually keyed" you're acnt number

I have never kept any personal info on a computer. When they first came out with Windows 3 it had all this info that it wanted you to fill in e.g. phone #, address, bank & account #, CC# and your SIN (for Yanks think Social Security#).Why the hell was this required so I left it blank and used the PC. I've been that way ever since. The best firewall you have is not having it on your box at all. Buying or paying bills copy the number every time from your card. Buying in person keep your card in a protective sleeve that won't allow reading.

You're doing it wrong. I don't pay interest and the credit card company is paying me to use their cars.

I care very little about fraud on credit cards as the card company is the one on the hook for any fraud. Its just a hassle to get a new card every so often so I have to change all my auto payments. Its credit card fraud departments which drive me up the wall, declining transactions at awkward times.

Yes exactly I use my cards all the time but the trick is to pay them off totally at the end of the month and never carry a balance as don't spend what you don't have and thus rack up the points and get free stuff.

When I travel I call them and let them know where I am going so the they can expect charges to be appearing.
