Not really. Look at the chart Rixer posted. The stock market always does better under Democrat presidents than under Republican presidents, whether the Democrats control Congress or not. Rixer's chart is consistent with my quote from The Wall Street Journal.

 

Most economical trends are based on Congress. This is because of the Lame Duck situations.

For instance, if you trend the Dow in Bush's last 2 years, you will see a general decline. This is because of his Lame Duck Status. The Dems stonewalled any legislation that could repair to get a Dem in the office. Just what the Republicans are doing to Obama now.

When Obama first took office, not only did he have a Left Congress, he had a Super Majority, yet, with all the ability to pass laws to fix the economy, the market kept tanking. Obama's platform of transparency disappeared as he locked out the Republicans in votes. It wasnt until Kennedy died and a Republican in the bastion of liberalism took his seat that Obama started to preach transparency. THe Super Majority was lost, and Obama now just bypasses Congress with executive orders. But the damage was done. The market did not begin to recover until the Republicans took control of Congress. Just go to your Dow and chart these historical events.

I said successful, not popular!! None are successful, and you are constantly hearing about SS and Medicare running out of money. The EPA has done more harm to American business than it's ever done to help the environment, and to call it popular is debatable.

The highest it was under Bush was 13,930. The highest it has been under Obama was 18,132.70.
