The truckload of drawbacks that come with making the Galaxy S25 Edge the thinnest flagship in the world can be overshadowed by the fact that Samsung’s quest to deliver the sleekest device in its lineup will also end up making it the lightest. One tipster now sheds light on the upcoming model’s mass, stating that it will not be heavier than the base version.
The use of a smaller battery and fewer build materials would help shave off some grams from the Galaxy S25 Edge
There was a stage when the Galaxy S25 Edge could have been heavier than the base Galaxy S25, as Samsung was previously reported to be working on two prototypes of its sleek flagship. The variant it chose to mass produce features a thickness of 5.84mm, with this design approach forcing the company to incorporate just two rear cameras instead of three. Fortunately, the lack of additional components means that the Galaxy S25 Edge will be easier to carry around, with Ice Universe commenting on X that the latter will be lighter than the Galaxy S25.
To remind you, the base Galaxy S25 features a 6.2-inch display, along with a 4,000mAh battery, and weighs 162 grams. These specifications suggest that the Galaxy S25 Edge will be lighter than the aforementioned figure. Remember that the extraordinarily thin flagship is slated to have a 6.7-inch screen, meaning that its footprint is still larger than the base Galaxy S25. As for how Samsung managed to achieve this feat, it is thanks to a combination of a smaller battery coupled with fewer materials used for the Galaxy S25 Edge’s chassis.

A 3C certification revealed that the smartphone would house a 3,900mAh battery, which is smaller than the 4,000mAh cell running in the Galaxy S25. Also, the thinner chassis means that Samsung had to employ aluminum in less quantity around the edges, helping to reduce the Galaxy S25 Edge’s weight. The exact launch date is currently unknown, but we have reported that the device will be unveiled sometime in April, after which we can confirm whether the tipster’s weight claims were legit.
