So it would appear that Republicans only accept a source of it right 100% of the time... But only if it doesn't fit their narrative.

This one got busted for it but another thing treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans have always been very consistent about is claiming the CBO is wrong if they don't like what they came up with. And then turn right back around and claim the CBO is the gospel if the numbers favor them.

Let's keep this up so people don't fall for any lies. This is significant and proves the elements of fraud not because Trump got a loan from his kids. What proves the elements of fraud is first Trump lied about his property values to guarantee a loan and then when that still wasn't enough he added in the assets owned by his kids. And then signed a document stating all the property values were true and correct and all the assets belonged to him alone.

      Self promotion.
The bit about the kids pledging the back up daddy to pay the loans if needed isn't new information is it?
      You read trumps deposition right?

This is another thing funny to watch. Now that treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans are losing election after election they have suddenly got religion or more accurately lost their religion to try and soften their stance on abortion to try and look more moderate. But what is hilarious about that is they can't lie their way out of their extreme positions on abortion because there is just too much documented evidence and video tape

And this was a big factor in the Democrats winning both Houses in Virginia. Gov Youngkin saw the political peril and came up what he thought was a more moderate position that looked like some kind of comprise. And basically saying just elect Republicans and trust us we will not outlaw abortion. Even though Republican members of the legislature were still calling for an outright ban with no exceptions for rape or incest. And the voters of Virginia did not fall for it. We aren't going to trust you because all you and the treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans do is lie. So we are going to vote for Democrats. And they did.

Jake Tapper Hits Ohio Republican With A Brutal Reminder On Abortion Votes

Jake Tapper flagged one post-Roe fact about abortion rights that Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) couldn’t ignore as he weighed in on Ohio voters enshrining reproductive rights into the state’s constitution this week.

The CNN anchor asked the Republican for his two cents on Ohio’s passage of the ballot measure Issue 1, which allows abortion access up until fetal viability or around 24 weeks of pregnancy (with the exception of cases where a pregnant person’s health or life is at risk).

“Were you surprised at the results, and do you think your party is just out of touch on this issue from what the American people want?” asked Tapper, who once asked Turner about the “clownish” look of his party last month.

The ballot measure’s passage arrived on an Election Day that marked massive wins for Democrats including in the Kentucky governor’s race and races in the Virginia state Senate.

Turner told Tapper that he thinks what happened in his state is “unfortunate,” claiming “people outside” of Ohio wrote the state constitution’s provision.

“They have different goals and objectives, and I think many of them have values that don’t even represent the people who are voting to pass it,” said Turner.

“I think this is a very difficult debate that we’re having across the country to try to find that spot where people feel comfortable.”

Turner continued, noting that the ballot measure goes “too far” before Tapper reminded him how voters have weighed in on abortion rights since last summer.

“All due respect, seven out seven times since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, seven out of seven — people in states such as Montana and Kentucky and Ohio have voted in favor of abortion rights,” he said, adding, “and maybe you don’t like who wrote it, but Ohioans voted for it.”

'Off the rails': Trump's ex-lawyer says former president will be jailed for his comments

If the 45th president continues misbehaving on social media, he may be punching a ticket to a Manhattan lockup.

Former White House attorney Ty Cobb explained during an appearance on CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront” that former president Donald Trump is treading in deep water by castigating the prosecutors, judges, and staff involved in his civil and criminal cases readying for trial across the country.

Cobb was asked about a post on Trump's Truth Social site that reads: "MY FANTASY... I WOULD LIKE TO SEE LITITIA [SIC] JAMES AND JUDGE ENGORON PLACED UNDER CITIZENS ARREST FOR BLATANT ELECTION INTERFERENCE AND HARASSMENT."

Trump reportedly "ReTruthed" the post and then took it down.

"I believe that at some point comments like this will result in Trump not only being sanctioned — which will probably be the first order of business — but at some point these types of comments will result in him being put in jail pending some of these trials," Cobb said.

The post is taking direct umbrage against New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron who is presiding over Trump's $250 million civil fraud case and New York Attorney General Letitia James, whose prosecuting team is suing the Trump Organization for hyping up its assets on financial documents to secure favorable tax benefits and deals.

The former Trump attorney, who defended Trump's White House during special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia interference investigation, said that the spreading of the post alone flies in the face of on-and-off gag orders installed to tamp down his rhetoric.

Those gag orders are currently awaiting appeal in Washington D.C. for the criminal case accusing him of attempting to overturn the election results and incite a riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

"These are the types of incendiary attacks that do lead to violence," said Cobb. "He specifically asked people to conduct a citizen's arrest."

"Detention of either James or Engoron would be a crime if committed by any individual who was so motivated by the president's remarks," he added.

The attorney likened the Truth Social validation to Trump's frothy "Stop The Steal" rally speech when he said: “And we fight. We fight like hell And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”

For Cobb the quieter move is "much like what he did on January 6th".

"It continues to be off the rails in terms of the extent to which his invective infects these proceedings and has the potential to intimidate witnesses."

For this, Cobb is convinced the former president espousing "petty dictator type talk" while the world is reeling in dangerous events and that such commentary "diminishes him and the United States every day."

This is going to be one of the most humiliating lie Kevin The Coward ever told and that is really saying something. It has all been documented. Kevin The Coward denounced Trump for inciting the J6 insurrection. Trump threatened to start his own party taking his supporters with him. That would mean treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans could not win elections and Kevin The Coward could not be House speaker. So Kevin The Coward rushed down to Mar a Lago to suck Trump's dick and declare him the leader of the Republican party. And then comes back and tells Liz Cheney just a laughable lie. Which Cheney is burning Kevin The Coward at the stake for.

‘I Can’t!’ Laura Coates Stops Adam Kinzinger Cold When He Conjures Image of Kevin McCarthy Feeding Trump
    Michael LucianoNov 28th, 2023, 11:02 pm

CNN’s Laura Coates wanted no part of the picture that Adam Kinzinger painted on Tuesday’s Laura Coates Live.

The former congressman reacted to an anecdote from former Rep. Liz Cheney, whose new memoir recalls an interaction she had with Rep. Kevin McCarthy in early 2021.

Just weeks after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, which Donald Trump incited by falsely claiming the 2020 election was stolen from him, McCarthy visited the former president at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

“Mar-a-Lago? What the hell, Kevin?” Cheney said she asked McCarthy, who just weeks before blamed Trump for the riot.

“They’re really worried,” he responded. “Trump’s not eating, so they asked me to come see him.”

“You went to Mar-a-Lago because Trump’s not eating?” she inquired.

“Yeah. He’s really depressed,” came the reply.

Kinzinger said that McCarthy kissing Trump’s ring was worth the trouble for him because he ultimately received Trump’s backing for speaker when Republicans retook the House in January 2023.

“He became speaker and he will forever be known as ‘Speaker Kevin McCarthy,'” Kinzinger said. “Now, was it worth it for the country? Was it worth it for the cost to your own personal soul, I guess? I don’t think so.”

He then ran afoul of Coates:

KINZINGER: It’s funny because as Jamie’s talking about him saying, you know, he’s not eating. First of off, the idea of Kevin going down there and feeding Donald Trump in his mouth is just like, blows me away.

    COATES: I’m too–

KINZINGER: There’s gotta be a cartoon for it.

COATES: I’m too visual for that. Please. I’m too visual for that image right now. I can’t! Go ahead.

McCarthy’s claim that Trump was so demoralized by his election loss that he was not eating was met with surprise and skepticism by CNN’s on-air talent throughout Tuesday.

‘That Is The Sweet Spot!’ CNN Anchor Stunned By New Jobs Report and Inflation ‘Cooling’
    Tommy ChristopherDec 8th, 2023, 9:58 am

CNN anchor John Berman was stunned by economic numbers that included a new jobs report and inflation cooling, exclaiming “That is the sweet spot!”

Friday morning saw the release of a new jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that showed better-than-expected job creation of 199,000 in November and an unemployment rate that ticked down to 3.7 percent:

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 199,000 in November, and the unemployment rate edged down to 3.7 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job gains occurred in health care and government. Employment also increased in manufacturing, reflecting the return of workers from a strike. Employment in retail trade declined.

On Friday’s edition of CNN News Central, Berman and Senior Business Correspondent Rahel Solomon broke down the details of the report:

JOHN BERMAN: The breaking news, an early holiday gift on the economy. In fact, in a way, it’s the gift that keeps on giving! The jobs report just in a few minutes ago, beating expectations, 199,000 new jobs added and the unemployment rate dropped. It is low.

CNN’s Rahel Solomon is with us now. And like I said, this is the gift that keeps on giving! The story of 2023 is an economy that just stayed strong!

RAHEL SOLOMON: Yeah, John, it’s the story of 2023. It’s the story of 2022 because as you pointed out, this is the 35th month of job growth. So this is the gift that’s been giving for almost three years now.

So let’s go through the numbers, 199,000 jobs, as you pointed out, in the month of November. To put that in perspective, the expectation had been closer to 180,000. Now, when you look at the prior two months, so October, that actually remained at 150,000. That was not changed.

September, however, was revised lower by about 35,000. And if you look at the chart on your screen, you can see, look, this is a strong report. But you can clearly see a slowing there, a cooling there. But it is gradual in the way that I think a lot of people would like to see.

Now, part of the boost this month, John, was that strikes came to an end. Right. You think about the auto workers joining the payrolls again, you think about some of the actors joining the payroll. So that was a sort of boost for November.

If you look at the industries and really get under the hood here, health care, government manufacturing, all adding between 28,000 jobs to 77,000 jobs for the month of November. We did, however, see some declines in retail trade.

Now, unemployment, this is the part of the report that folks were watching very closely. In fact, Citibank put out in a research note, this is the most important aspect of the report. And it actually ticked down to 3.7%.

We have been in this tight range for almost a year and a half of about 3.4 to 3.9% for unemployment for, again, about 18 months. So we’re still stuck in this tight range. The question now is it’s a gradual softening, but still strong.

So what does the Fed do with this? We’re going to learn a lot more about that when they meet for their last meeting of the year next Tuesday and Wednesday. Best believe, John, they will be asked about how they’re interpreting this report. But as you said, at least for now, it is the gift that keeps on giving.

JOHN BERMAN: Inflation, cooling. Unemployment not rising. That is the sweet spot that so many economists have been looking for the last few years! And as we sit here at the end of 2023, it seems to be at least being achieved.

RAHEL SOLOMON: It is the soft landing. It is the soft landing that everyone sort of had hoped for. And it looks like the calls that we may actually that the Fed may actually get this right are growing, but we’ll only know sort of as the months go on. But as you pointed out, inflation is cooling, the labor market is cooling slowly. And yet consumer spending, at least from what we can see, is still hanging tight.

JOHN BERMAN: And the idea just one last point that you made there. We’ve been in this band of 3.4 to 3.9% unemployment. That’s really low! For an economy to be stuck at a rate less than 4%. That’s a very low place for unemployment to be.

RAHEL SOLOMON: It’s a great point. And the one thing that you’ve heard a lot from Jay Powell over the last year, year and a half, is that we need more workers. You want to see more workers come off the sidelines. So that’s part of the reason here. Right. And so it’s very low. We are starting to get some help on the labor force participation side. But this is this is a sweet spot. This is the Goldilocks that so many people had been hoping for.

CNN’s Chris Wallace Straight-Up Asks ‘Is Donald Trump a Dictator-In-Waiting’ — Pushes Back On ‘No’ Answer
    Tommy ChristopherDec 9th, 2023, 10:54 am

CNN anchor Chris Wallace straight-up asked his panel “Is Donald Trump a dictator in waiting?” — and pushed back when one panelist argued he was just being like Obama.

Journalists Kristen Soltis Anderson, Lulu Garcia-Navarro, Reihan Salam, and Kara Swisher joined Wallace for this week’s edition of CNN’s The Chris Wallace Show on Saturday morning, during which Wallace joined the others in pushing back when Salam insisted Trump’s “dictator” remarks were the same as a benign statement former President Barack Obama once made:

CHRIS WALLACE: In this recent town hall This week, his buddy Sean Hannity was at pains to try to say to him, you know, you’re not going to be a dictator, you’re not going to be a bad guy, you’re not going to abuse power. Here’s how that went.

DONALD TRUMP: He says, you’re not going to be a dictator, are you? I said, No, no, no. Other than day one! We’re closing the border and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator.

CHRIS WALLACE: So, Reihan, is Donald Trump a dictator in waiting? Or is he just playing one?

REIHAN SALAM: Well, look, what he was saying in that moment is something very similar to what Barack Obama said back in 2014 at his first cabinet meeting. He said, “I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone.”.

And what he meant by that is that if Congress does not do what I want them to do, I can sign executive actions and I can use my phone to rally outside groups to create pressure on Congress to get things done.

And the big, deeper problem, you’ve seen that under President Obama, under President Trump, under President Biden, is that Congress has abdicated its responsibility and better for worse, the public wants a strong president.

KARA SWISHER: Come on! (crosstalk) Nobody has Obama. I know nobody has. He’s using the term dictator. He’s trying to be scared. All this leakage about the Heritage and these groups, they’re going to get rid of everyone. Kash Patel saying, you know, we’re going to come get the media

CHRIS WALLACE: Who is a former advisor to Trump, and came out after the meeting this week.

KARA SWISHER: J.D. Vance suing, asking the just department to investigate this columnist. He’s a persistent clown on these things. It’s all part of the scare.

CHRIS WALLACE: Vance, not the columnist.

KARA SWISHER: No, the columnist was fine. It was it was a little bit much.

CHRIS WALLACE: All right. But anyway.

KARA SWISHER: In any case, this is very different. It’s a plan to try to sort of put the fear into people.

CHRIS WALLACE: And I want to I want to ask you, Lulu, because I can I just I could feel your hackles even though I wasn’t looking at you. How do you compare what Donald Trump is saying and doing to Obama saying, I’ve got to, after he had lost control of Congress? “I’ve got a pen and a phone.”

LULU GARCIA-NAVARRO: These are two different things! Nobody asked President Obama, are you a dictator? People say that you’re a dictator. And in response to that, he said, I have a pen and a piece of paper and I can do what I want.

This was a direct question where actually, Hannity was setting up a softball for former President Trump, where you were saying, hey, people are worried about this. People are writing about this because of some of your statements. Why don’t you calm them down?

And his response was, actually, guess what, guys, I can do it. And it wasn’t. And you know what the most chilling part of that was? Which you cut off. It was the response of the crowd, which was to cheer because that’s what they like about him. They like that he.

CHRIS WALLACE: Don’t be so respectful.

LULU GARCIA-NAVARRO: Like that he has authoritarian tendencies.

REIHAN SALAM: Look, respectfully, the real issue is that we have a broken constitutional system. And the reason it’s broken is because Congress has basically said we are going to cede the authority that belongs to us under the Constitution to a whole slew of three agencies.

CHRIS WALLACE: There’s that broken congressional system? So the answer is to suspend the Constitution, to weaponize the Justice Department and to conduct mass deportation?

KRISTEN SOLTIS ANDERSON: Congress should try to reclaim some of its power. But the reality is that it’s not just that Donald Trump wants to put in place a lot of executive orders. The thing that worries me about a second Trump term is that, to quote the great Taylor Swift, he’s dressing for revenge. That he is coming to look at the White House in the second term with an idea of I am going to try to do all the things that I couldn’t do last time. I’m going to put in place people that aren’t going to sell me out. And that’s where things begin to get a little bit scary.

The same Republicans downplaying Trump 'dictatorship' lines begged Pence to stop him: aide

In a discussion between Geraldo Rivera and Olive Troye, host Jim Acosta couldn't help but blame Republican lawmakers for being the ones to encourage Donald Trump's dictatorship fantasies.

On Thursday, CNN's Manu Raju interviewed several lawmakers asking about Trump's comment that he wanted to be a dictator for "one day" so he could build his wall and drill wherever he wanted.

“A joke,” one called it “entertainment,” said another, and “typical rhetoric.” That’s how GOP lawmakers downplayed his claim that he wanted to be a dictator. The former Fox host tried to make the case that these members were correct, but Troye flattened it.

ALSO READ: A neuroscientist explains how Donald Trump exploits the minds of conspiracy theorists

Troye sounded the alarm that Trump's daydreams about being a king. She pointed to the very same Republicans who were calling Vice President Mike Pence's office begging for help when Trump came up with a policy he wanted to enact based on something he saw on the Fox network.

"I know the Republicans on the Hill who were upset when Trump would say he was going to do something and he'd go do it, and then there would be phone calls to Mike Pence's office saying," said Troye. She specifically cited Trump targeting immigrants, who were a big part of the farmworkers willing to work for very little to pick crops. Republicans in farm country were desperate for help.

FoodProcessing.com from Feb. 2019 charted: "The Immigration and Customs Enforcement service (ICE) conducted numerous enforcement actions on food processing facilities during 2018. Some of the higher-profile ones include: a meat processing plant in Morristown, Tenn., raided on April 6, with 97 arrests; a bakery in Chicago, audited in June and July, with a net loss of about 800 workers, or roughly a third of its workforce; a meat processing plant in Salem, Ohio, raided on June 19 with 146 arrests; a tomato plant, a potato processing facility and a cattle feedlot, all in O’Neill, Neb., raided on Aug. 8, with 133 total arrests."

"We need them," Troye said. "We need those immigrants here. They are hardworking people."

"Or how about those times when people would call up when there was going to be 'Liberty to Venezuela,'" she said, recalling the slogan. "Then one day he woke up and decided he didn't like the oppositional candidate. So, he just woke up on the wrong side of the bed and went off on that. The next thing you know, we were withdrawing our plans and trying to scramble to figure that out."

These Republicans who are downplaying his language now are the same ones who were "equally panicking" when Trump managed the presidency via tweet.

"I've seen what he does firsthand. Jim, I saw when you got kicked out of the press room and attacked and your press pass was revoked as media. What happened to freedom of the press?" said Troye. "I know what is coming. So, yeah, we can sit here and say that it's alarmist, but there are those of us who lived it, who saw this firsthand, who are incredibly concerned. Those checks and balances held because there were people in positions who weren't willing to compromise themselves, who really took their oath seriously and who took their service seriously. Those people won't be there anymore. It will be a circle of enablers."

Rivera tried to claim that the checks and balances would be in place to stop Trump because there are the necessary branches of government like the judiciary to keep him in check. Never before has a president refused to follow a Supreme Court ruling. Trump could very easily be the first, and unless the House and Senate are willing to remove him from office, there's nothing else in place to enforce it. The Supreme Court doesn't have any kind of police force. The commander-in-chief is the president and he dictates the military.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Points Out ‘Trump Could Be Facing A Prison Sentence’ In March When Ex-Aide Says Trump ‘Very Worried’
    Tommy ChristopherDec 12th, 2023, 1:49 pm

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins pointed out that ex-President Donald Trump “could be facing a prison sentence” in March after ex-Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci told her Trump “is very worried” about the criminal Jan. 6 trial.

The big news Monday was that the Supreme Court agreed to Special Jack Smith’s request they take up the issue of presidential immunity after Judge Tanya Chutkan denied two motions to dismiss from Trump’s team, based on First Amendment and presidential immunity claims.

    The order reads:

Petitioner’s motion to expedite consideration of the petition for a writ of certiorari before judgment is granted, and respondent is directed to file a response to the petition on or before 4 p.m. (EST) on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

On Monday night’s edition of CNN’s The Source with Kaitlan Collins, Collins made the sobering observation, and asked Scaramucci “is that all he’s thinking about, at this point?”

COLLINS: I just am curious what you think is kind of going through Donald Trump’s head, right now, as Jack Smith is here, surprising everyone, by going past the appeals court, going straight to the Supreme Court, and basically trying to cut off Trump’s known strategy, of delaying his legal troubles.

ANTHONY SCARAMUCCI: Well, so, I think it’s a brilliant move, by Jack.

But if you really want to get inside the President’s mind, he’s very, very worried. You’ve got 91 counts, for big indictments. It feels like he is the Al Capone, of our current political system, meaning people think he’s untouchable, just like they did with Al Capone, or somebody like John Gotti, but they actually are not untouchable. And so, he’s very, very worried.

I do know that he thinks because he appointed six of those, or — excuse me, three of those justices, but he has six that are conservatives, I do think that he thinks he’s got a good shot there. He thinks that that court is politicized, and will tip to his favor. And obviously, Jack Smith doesn’t think that. I certainly don’t think that.

And I think it’s a great strategy, Kaitlan. We’ll have to see what happens. But I think the President is very worried.

COLLINS: Yes, whether or not it works.

And, I mean, when you say he’s very worried, it’s not out there to say that what he is staring down, right now, potentially is a second term, as President, or if he does end up going to trial, as is scheduled, right now, for at least one of these cases? This one, though, it’s at the heart of this, in March that he could be potentially facing a prison sentence, if they are successful in a conviction. I mean, is that all he’s thinking about, at this point, do you think?

    SCARAMUCCI: I do.

CNN’s Jake Tapper and Maggie Haberman Roast Trump For ‘Running a Basement Campaign’
    Tommy ChristopherDec 14th, 2023, 1:36 pm

CNN anchor Jake Tapper and New York Times correspondent and CNN analyst Maggie Haberman roasted ex-President Donald Trump over his lighter campaign schedule, turning his “basement campaign” insult against him.

Trump and his supporters taunted President Joe Biden during the 2020 campaign as running a “basement campaign” while he was observing Covid precautions.

On Wednesday’s edition of CNN’s The Lead, Tapper pointed out that those same taunts could as easily apply to Trump’s lighter schedule this time around, and both noted factors like Trump’s age:

TAPPER: Last question. Donald Trump has clearly been campaigning something of a basement campaign, something of the kind of campaign that Joe Biden did in 2020. A lot of Republicans made fun of them. They talked about Donald Trump was out there doing six, seven events a day, Joe Biden was doing maybe one. Donald Trump’s not even doing one campaign event a day, he might be doing two or three a week.

Obviously, he’s 77. Obviously, he’s far and ahead the front runner, he doesn’t need to do it. At what point do you think the pride that he feels about the fact that he used to be so vigorous and able to do this and it’s pretty apparent that he doesn’t seem capable of doing it anymore, at least there’s no evidence that he can do it anymore that that’s going to cause him to try to get back into that old routine.

HABERMAN: Among other things he’s not doing rallies, yes, he is older, yes, he is far ahead, they also cost a lot of money, and so they don’t see the reason to spend campaign resources when they don’t have to. I don’t think that that is proving himself in that way as a top of mind concern for him, especially if as they hope Iowa delivers him a sizable victory on January 15. Remember, it’s a state that he lost —

    TAPPER: Right.

    HABERMAN: — in 2016.

    TAPPER: To Ted Cruz.

HABERMAN: He is so much more focused on the legal cases than on specifically the political campaign on balance right now, and specifically the case we haven’t talked about, the New York attorney general case, because that involves his business and that involves the extent to which he is going to be able to continue to run his business as is. And we will know the details of that outcome in January. He will appeal whatever that is, and that’s going to go on for a while. But that case cuts at the heart of his identity and who he is. It is just fundamentally different than anything else we’re talking about.

CNN’s Jake Tapper Straight-Up Asks Maggie Haberman ‘Are The Dominoes Starting To Fall?’ After New Trump Bombshell
    Tommy ChristopherDec 16th, 2023, 2:22 pm

CNN’s Jake Tapper straight-up asked New York Times correspondent and CNN analyst Maggie Haberman “are the dominoes starting to fall?” after new reporting on a former ally spilling about ex-President Donald Trump’s election plot.

This week, CNN reporter Marshall Cohen dropped an exclusive on tapes he obtained in which Chesebro told election crimes prosecutors in Michigan about the advice Trump was given during Oval Office meetings in December of 2020. He’s cooperating with probes in Michigan and Wisconsin investigating the fake electors plot.

On Wednesday’s edition of CNN’s The Lead, Haberman and Tapper agreed Chesebro could be “very damaging” to Trump, and Tapper asked if this portends a wave of informants to come:

TAPPER: Maggie, what stands out to you most when you hear this, these tapes, Marshall’s excellent reporting?

MAGGIE HABERMAN: Honest, it’s terrific reporting. And it’s actually the fact of this meeting happening in the first place is what stands out to me because when Chesebro pleaded guilty and Jenna Ellis pleaded guilty, the basic takeaway for people around Trump was, well, Chesebro didn’t really deal with Trump directly, so he doesn’t know that much but Jenna Ellis did. There’s clearly a lot more to learn about what was happening in these various interactions. And the fact, as Marshall said, he brought it up proactively, giving the desire by all of these people around Trump, not to the same degree, but to please him, to bring him —

    TAPPER: Yes.

HABERMAN: — some kind of offering is what stood out to me there.

TAPPER: And Chesebro is clearly willing to talk pretty openly —

    HABERMAN: Yes.

TAPPER: — in a way that could be pretty damaging to Donald Trump. What do you know about others in Trump’s circle who might also be willing to flip, I’m thinking of course of a different White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. Are the dominoes starting to follow here?

HABERMAN: I think we’re going to wait a long time until we would see something like that. Look, I can’t predict whether Meadows will flip. If he does, I think it would be proud problematic for Trump just given the volume of what he knows but I think that he shared enough with investigators that they’re going to be able to paint a pretty compelling picture at this point already. I’m not sure how badly they need a plea like that as opposed to a plea like this. I just would say one other thing that stood out to me from that audio is that Reince Priebus was probably having PTSD —

    TAPPER: Yes.

HABERMAN: — from trying to have, you know, a meeting not get derailed from the time when he was Chief of Staff in that White House.

TAPPER: It’s also just so odd, because here you have this president and he has all these people that he knows, the White House Counsel, his attorney general, former White House Chiefs of Staff like Reince Priebus, et cetera, all of them saying it’s over, you lost. And then this — just these stragglers are coming and people he doesn’t know, barely knows, whatever, they tell him what he likes, so he listens.

HABERMAN: So, there used to be a line that one of his senior advisors would use, which is that if Trump wants an opinion on something, he will ask 49 people and then a 50, out of that 50, it will give him the answer that he wants. And that’s literally what you saw here. It was a parade of people, as you say, telling him, this is over even if they weren’t all doing it that declaratively, there were enough people telling him, you are out of options here, and then he gets one who says, no, no, no, this is real. And he goes for that.

TAPPER: Yes, it’s just these stray dogs that he brings in and just listens to them bark as long as he likes the sound of it.

CNN’s Chris Wallace And Abby Phillip Laugh At How Trump ‘Makes It Easy’ For Biden To Compare Trump With Nazis
    Tommy ChristopherJan 4th, 2024, 9:48 am

CNN anchor Chris Wallace and fellow anchor Abby Phillip shared a laugh as they agreed that former President Donald Trump “makes it easy” for President Joe Biden to make Nazi comparisons because Trump “does quote Hitler!”

A defining feature of Trump’s campaign in the past few months has been an escalating tendency to echo Adolf Hitler and other Nazi propaganda.

On Wednesday night’s edition of CNN NewsNight, Phillip asked Wallace if going after Trump is Biden’s best bet, and Wallace brought up the Nazi stuff. He told Phillip that Biden aides are asking — half-jokingly — “When are we going to go full Hitler?”

Both anchors then agreed Trump gives them plenty of fuel, and Wallace said it’s probably a better bet than trying to budge Biden’s stubbornly low approval ratings:

PHILLIP: Real quick, Chris, on the Democratic side, the Biden campaign, they are kind of refocusing in this New Year to target Trump and once again the threat to democracy that they say he poses. They have a slate of events coming up in the next couple of weeks. Do you think that this is their best bet in terms of messaging, focus on basically the things that Biden ran on in 2020, the threat to democracy from Trump, and restoring essentially the soul of the nation?

WALLACE: Look, for most of the last few months, Biden has been trying to sell himself. He’s leaned into Bidenomics. He’s tried to say, hey, look, the country is in really good shape. The economy is in really good shape. And in one of the recent polls, he was down at 34 percent approval. So, clearly, making the positive case for Joe Biden, his administration and his agenda isn’t working.

He’ll still do that. I mean, he’s got the State of the Union in early February. He’ll talk about what he’s accomplished, what he wants to accomplish in a second term. But it sure seems like the best shot they’ve got at this point is to go after Trump very much of the way they did in 2020, the way they did in 2022 on issues of democracy, the Constitution, civil liberties in this country. In fact, some aides in the Biden campaign have half jokingly said, when are we going to go full Hitler? Meaning when are we going to start making a direct comparison between Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler, comments on poisoning the blood and vermin. And it may come down to that.

PHILLIP: Trump makes it easy for them. (laughs) He does quote Hitler! So, I mean, it’s there.

WALLACE: (laughs) That’s right. It does make it easy. You’ve got the sound bites, and it’s not going to be pretty, but it may be the most effective way for Joe Biden to get re-elected.

PHILLIP: Yes. Well, we’ll see how that turns out. Chris, as always, thank you so much for joining us.

    WALLACE: Thank you, Abby.

    Whatever it takes.
No lie too big, no propaganda too outrageous
    We will destroy Trump.
He will never be permitted to run for any public office ever again.
There is nothing too underhanded, too immoral, too unethical if it will stop Trump.

Trump's got an excuse. He's mentally ill and cannot grasp the consequences of his own actions. So do some of the other treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans. But the rest of them have o excuse other than being brainwashed Trump cult followers for being so stupid and ignorant they would follow him off the cliff and falling right into proof its actually them that want open borders. Which of course is big news,

‘You Are Just Wrong’: CNN’s Brianna Keilar Shuts Down Republican Congressman On Biden’s Powers to Shut the Border
    Alex GriffingFeb 6th, 2024, 6:01 pm

CNN anchor Brianna Keilar shut down Rep. Josh Brecheen (R-OK) with a strongly worded fact-check during a Tuesday discussion about the current powers of the president when it comes to the border.

Keilar began by asking Brecheen to explain his concerns with the bipartisan border deal that she noted has been endorsed by the Border Patrol union.

“The real solution is, it’s already been on the books for decades, and they refuse to enforce it. 2017 it was being enforced. You had the lowest number of illegal immigration in our nation’s history, 40 years. And yet what’s the difference between 2017 and to date? The difference is an administration that chooses to be lawless and Republicans go ahead,” argued the Oklahoma Republican.

“Can we have an honest conversation about this? Because the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 that you’re talking about also says that people can come to the border and ask for asylum, even if they cross into the U.S. without authorization,” Keilar shot back, adding:

And if you’re citing that bill, you should be very much aware of this, because this particular bill in the Senate side would change that. It would give the president the ability to do exactly what you were citing, the part of the bill that you’re citing because in November of 2018, when former President Trump tried to use that very bill that you’re talking about to curb illegal migrant crossings, he was prevented from doing so by a federal court because it violated the very law that he was trying to use. The law that you were saying is on the books.

“The law that’s on the books. President Biden on day five utilized it when it came to Brazil, South America, South Africa, excuse me, and United Kingdom. He utilized that, that provision of law,” Brecheen continued as Keilar cut him off.
“It can’t apply to asylum, Congressman,” Keilar insisted.

“Let me finish. But let me finish. We want to have an honest conversation,” Brecheen replied, adding:

When on day five, President Biden utilized the Immigration Nationality Act to say to those from United Kingdom, South Africa, and Brazil, you’re done, because that there is a provision that says a class of aliens or entirety of aliens, if it’s that they are seen as being destructive to the United States, the president has the authority just to holler, whoa!

“But you are just wrong when it comes to that bill, because what you are calling for President Biden to do is something that former President Trump attempted and that a court found he couldn’t do. The bill says that people can come to the U.S. border and ask for asylum, even if they cross into the U.S. without authorization. And I know that’s inconvenient, but that is in the very bill that you were citing,” Keilar hit back.

The two began to speak over each other a bit as Keilar concluded, ”You can’t use one part of the bill to invalidate the other part. And that is actually something that the court found. I would ask that you revisit what happened in November of 2018, and you’ll see exactly what I mean.”

“I would, in all due respect, I would ask you revisit in 2017 the lowest numbers in 40 years of illegal immigration with the same laws on the books. The difference is leadership. Lawlessness begets lawlessness, and we have an administration who refuses to enforce the laws that are on the books,” Brecheen concluded.
